Solar Cable Procurement in Turkey: TÜV Requirements, Sizing & Trusted Suppliers
By Engineer Chan · HuamaetCable technical team
T yburkey's solar market has expanded rapidly over the past decade and remains one of the most active in the wider Europe–MENA region, driven by YEAKKA tenders, C&I rooftop demand and falling module costs. Turkish EPCs and installers almost universally specify TÜV-cedeifrtified PV cables, so knowing which standards, sizes and supplier checks apply is the difference between a smooth tender and a rejected shipment.
About this guide. HuaCable exports copper-conductor PV DC cable (PV1-F 2 PfG 1169, H1Z2Z2-K EN 50618, IEC 62930) plus CE-marked MC4 connectors. Turkish EPCs and installers normally specify TÜV-certified cable, so this guide covers which standard applies, how to size, and how to verify a genuine certificate. Market capacity figures are kept qualitative on purpose — confirm the current number with GÜYAD / the Turkish Ministry of Energy before quoting.

Turkey's Solar Market at a Glance
Strong growth in both utility-scale and rooftop / unlicensed (lisanssız) solar.
A mature local EPC and installer base concentrated around Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and the Aegean/Marmara regions.
Procurement language is usually English or Turkish; most technical specs follow European (TÜV) standards.
Capacity figures change quickly. Before publishing or quoting, confirm the latest installed-solar number with GÜYAD / the Turkish Ministry of Energy, and cite the source. Do not rely on a fixed GW figure.
Which Standards Turkish Buyers Require
Cable | Standard buyers ask for | Certification | DC rating |
|---|---|---|---|
TÜV 2 PfG 1169 | TÜV only (not CE-marked) | 1.8 kV | |
EN 50618 | TÜV + CE | 1.5 kV | |
IEC 62930 | TÜV only | 1.5 kV |
In Turkey, PV1-F (2 PfG 1169) and H1Z2Z2-K (EN 50618) are the two most requested single-core PV cables. Both are double-layer (insulation + sheath) with XLPO or XLPE as specified.
Sizing PV1-F / H1Z2Z2-K
4 mm² and 6 mm² — the workhorses for string connections between panels and the string/combiner box.
10–35 mm² — array-to-inverter and main DC runs, sized against current and voltage drop.
Keep the DC open-circuit voltage within the cable's rating (1.8 kV for PV1-F, 1.5 kV for H1Z2Z2-K) with margin for the coldest-day voltage rise.
Always run a voltage-drop and temperature-derating check for the specific string length and ambient temperature; do not size on conductor cross-section alone.
Common Procurement Pitfalls
Fake or expired TÜV marks — verify the certificate number on the certifier's public database.
Confusing PV1-F with H1Z2Z2-K — PV1-F is TÜV 2 PfG 1169 (DC 1.8 kV), H1Z2Z2-K is EN 50618 (DC 1.5 kV, TÜV + CE). They are not interchangeable on a spec that names one.
Assuming AD8 is included — AD8 (water immersion) is an additional test to TÜV 2 PfG 2750, not part of EN 50618 by default. For floating solar, confirm AD8 specifically.
PVC sold as solar cable — only cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO/XLPE) grades are suitable for long-term PV DC service.
How to Verify a TÜV-Certified Supplier
Ask for the TÜV certificate number and check it on Certipedia or the issuer's site.
Request a factory audit or third-party inspection (e.g. SGS/BV) for large tenders.
Confirm the supplier can provide batch test reports and consistent marking on the cable jacket.
Sample-test before bulk shipment — especially conductor resistivity and insulation thickness.

FAQ
Which solar cable standard is most used in Turkey?
PV1-F to TÜV 2 PfG 1169 and H1Z2Z2-K to EN 50618 are the two most common. Both are TÜV-certified; H1Z2Z2-K additionally carries CE.
Is PV1-F accepted in Turkey if it is not CE-marked?
Yes. PV1-F is certified to TÜV 2 PfG 1169 and is widely specified in Turkey on that basis. CE marking is not required for PV1-F; it is the H1Z2Z2-K (EN 50618) grade that carries CE.
Do I need AD8 cable for Turkish floating solar?
Only if the project is floating or permanently water-immersed. AD8 is an additional test to TÜV 2 PfG 2750 and is not included in EN 50618 by default — specify it explicitly. See our AD8 floating solar cable.
What MOQ applies for a trial order?
100 m for 4 mm² and 6 mm² (the two sizes covering most trial orders), and 1,000 m for all other sizes. Quantities are counted per single colour.
How do I check a TÜV certificate is genuine?
Take the certificate number from the supplier and verify it on the certifier's public database (e.g. Certipedia). A genuine certificate shows the exact product scope and validity dates.
Can I mix PV1-F and H1Z2Z2-K on one site?
Electrically both are suitable PV DC cables, but a spec that names one model should be met with that model. Do not substitute without the engineer's written approval, because the certification and DC rating differ.
What payment terms do Turkish importers usually accept?
For factory-direct solar cable, T/T 70% deposit with 30% balance before shipment is standard. Quotations are valid 1 day due to copper-price fluctuation.
